Volume Control

When Bluetooth connects or disconnects, Android will reset the volume. This can conflict with Locale. This often occurs if you drive and have Location-based situations configured to adjust volume.

To prevent this conflict, consider creating a Driving situation with a "Volume, Ringer and Notifications" and a "Volume, Media" setting. After creating the Driving situation, go to the situation list and move it to be higher priority than your Location-based situations. When you arrive, the location situation will become active but the settings will be suppressed by the Driving situation. When Driving ends as you turn off the car, Locale is smart enough to wait a few seconds for Android's adjustments to happen before firing the volume settings in the location-based situation.

Location

Improving Accuracy

Locale offers a way to improve location accuracy through Calibration. Calibration will not only improve accuracy, but it can also reduce battery usage. To perform calibration, you can choose Calibrate from the “Hamburger” menu if you have at least one location condition configured. (Note that Calibration is not currently available on Huawei devices).

Disabling Wi-Fi Scans

Wi-Fi is required to accurately determine your location. Locale will periodically perform brief Wi-Fi scans (even if Wi-Fi is turned off) to determine your location accurately. These periodic Wi-Fi scans improve location accuracy by about 10x. Counterintuitively, these Wi-Fi scans improve battery life because Locale has to work less hard to determine your location. (GPS does not work indoors, and uses significantly more power than Wi-Fi.)

These Wi-Fi scans can be disabled by making ALL Location conditions 2,000 meters in size. You’ll know when the size is right, because Locale will snap the resizing to 2,000 meters.
